When detached from the base, the iron uses stored thermal energy from its heavy-duty soleplate to steam and press.

Can I use this as a normal corded iron for long ironing sessions?

Yes. The Sokany iron features a dual-mode system. If you have a large batch of laundry and don't want to dock it periodically, you can lock the iron directly onto the charging base unit so it receives continuous power like a traditional corded iron.

Can I use tap water in the steam tank, or does it require distilled water?

Regular tap water works fine for standard use. However, if you live in an area with hard tap water (high mineral content), using distilled or demineralized water—or a 50/50 mix—will help prevent mineral scale buildup and prolong the life of the steam vents.
