Why does my new airfryer smell like burning plastic?

This is usually a normal "break-in" odor from protective coatings or heat-resistant plastics gassing off during the first few uses. To fix it, run an empty cycle at 200°C for 10–20 minutes in a well-ventilated room.

Are the baskets and crisper dishwasher safe?

Most baskets and crisper plates are technically dishwasher safe, but hand-washing is strongly recommended to prevent the harsh detergents and high heat from peeling or damaging the non-stick coating over time.

Can I use aluminium sponge when washing or cleaning the baskets and crisper?

No. You should never use abrasive tools like aluminum sponges, steel wool, or metal scrubbers. They will permanently scratch and destroy the non-stick surface. Use a soft sponge or a nylon brush instead.

Can I use aluminium or parchment paper while cooking?

Yes, but with rules. Never cover the entire bottom (it blocks essential airflow) and always weigh it down with food so it doesn't blow into the heating element and catch fire. Avoid using foil with acidic foods like tomatoes or citrus.

Why is there steam coming out of the unit?

A small amount of steam is normal, as air fryers release moisture from food during the cooking process. If you see smoke instead of steam, it is likely due to grease splashing onto the heating element or food being too close to it.
